General information

Population: 50

It is located on the North of "Extremadura" and in the west of the province "Las Hurdes", between 40°18´ latitude north and 6°28´ latitude west and 460 m. above the sea-level.

We access the village by the road Ex- 204 in both senses, coming from "Coria" as well as from "Salamanca". On reaching "Pinofranqueado" take direction "Robledo", "Aldehuela".

The village is located on the base of "Puerto del Esperaban".

Here is the spring of the river "Esperaban", the name of which is derived from a hurdan word meaning sparrow-hawk. Years ago important prehistoric documents such as a plate of slate with engravings on it appeared.

The inhabitants in former times showed great ability to work spoons and because of that were called "spoon makers".

The results of their work were sold in the neighbouring villages.
