General information

Population: 125


It is located in the North of "Extremadura" and on the west of the region" Las Hurdes", between 40°18´ latitude north and 6°28´ latitude west and 450 m. above the sea-level.


The access is quite easy by the road Ex- 204 in both directions, coming from "Coria" as well from "Salamanca".

Once you arrive to "Pinofranqueado" take the direction "Robledo" and "Aldehuela".


The origin of the name is a legend which tells about a castle being in the zone, although it is not clear where the exact place was.

We also find some prehistoric and roman rests as well as old gold- mines in the place called "Los Llanetes".

What to visit


We recommend to visit the old part of the town, where the visitor can see some typical old houses. The old and narrow streets in the village take the visitor back to older times.

Free time

The visitor can obtain some information in the Centre of Documentation in "Pinofranqueado". It is also possible to practise some sport in the athletic ground of the village.

Where to eat & sleep

The visitor can have some drinks in the different pubs in the village.

Artesian works

There is no artisan work for sale. The few of artisan work done in town ( in wood and osier) are for private use of the population in town.

Bath zone

The visitor can take a bath in the natural swimming pool by the river "Esperaban" which crosses the village.
