All Hurdes, all nature.

The word nature takes all its sense when we talk about Hurdes, a place where its singular and elaborated architecture is being offered to surprise all the visitors who decides to be drunk of incredible views, exciting water falls, clean and blue skies , and a singular architecture, to be in harmony with the life.

The main animals that live in this zone are; foxes, goats, wild boars, rabbits, salamanders etc, further we must speak about some protected species, that we have, as black stork, wild cat, raptors, between others, that freely live in the dignity and freedom of these territories of the Hurdes, with a large zone of ZEPA and LIC. The ZEPA (special zone of protection of birds) of Hurdes, has 26.982 hectares, and the LIC (place of communitarian interest) has the similar territory of ZEPA, this surface has an important biological diversity, with representative species as Real Eagle, Black Vulture between others.

In this majestic region, full of high and escarped mountains, we can find an immense diversity of local flora where It is important to emphasize the trees which has been declared as “singular trees”, these are: “LOS TEJOS DEL CEREZAL” placed in Cerezal, “THE CENTENNIAL MADROÑERA OF GUIJARRO BLANCO”, located in Castillo, and “THE CENTENNIAL JUNIPER TREE OF LAS MESTAS”, not for this reason we can forget the rest of flora that grow up in our region such as: chestnut trees, oaks, hollies, ashes, and so on Furthermore we can add to the trees, a lot of plants such as rockroses, brooms, cantuesos, brezos, and so forth.

“THE VOLCANO OF GASCO” is declared like a place of scientific interest by the Junta of Extremadura, on 29 th July of 2003, although It is known as THE VOLCANO, because of its similarity with a real volcano, and its rocks are like volcanic stones, the truth show us, after several scientific studies, that this unusual configuration of the mountain, has been as a result of the impact of a meteorite, whose shock against hurdanas mountains dates between one and two million of years. This affirmation is based on more than probable existence of the Ringwoodita element (rw), a material that takes place when a meteoric component falls against the earth, from a height more than 600 km, and with a speed superior of 40 kilometres by second. The presence in this place of Ringwoodita, makes this as something unique at world-wide level.
